In addition, we recognize you can have too much of a good thing. You will want an evening alone, or with other adults, and your kids will appreciate a supervised evening with their new friends. Our Time Together—Time Apart feature allows everyone a chance to mix with his or her peers. Opportunities for your individual family to spend time together are also important, and so we make sure you have time to explore your chosen destination as a family.

As corny as it sounds, we believe that making connections starts right home, with our family members (not that it ends there!). Time and again, we hear that children know more about pop culture than their own family history. The connections to our heritage, our roots, are part of what makes us who we are. We do the work, so you have the fun. You will have time to enjoy your vacation and to connect with your family. We plan each trip so that you have time to bond with your family and time to satisfy your curiosity about other cultures.

Most Americans take their vacations right here in the USA, and in part that is because America is so culturally rich. If you are someone who would prefer to explore the diverse communities found within the Americas then GTC has a number of exciting travel adventures in North, Central, and South America.
We have designed our tours so no matter which GTC trip you choose, you will see the destination through the eyes of the local people. Curious travelers are not spectators; they are active, engaged people who want to experience the places they visit. Whenever possible, we stay in small, locally owned and operated hotels and eat in locally owned restaurants. We engage in responsible tourism and believe in selective shopping that supports the local economy.
Most of our tours offer an insider’s view into the community, a chance for locals and guests to interact in a social setting where the only agenda is to learn about each other. The insider’s view could be a visit to an artist’s studio, a local school, a pick-up soccer game, a dinner with a local family, a stroll through a farmers’ market or sharing a salmon dinner with members of the Kwakwaka’wakw nation.

Although we visit many of the same destinations as other travel companies, GTC travel experiences are quite different. We insist on a small-group size for every tour so that we are able to take our guests to places larger tour companies cannot. On a GTC adventure, you can expect to encounter the unique and the must-see.
Among the unique experiences we offer are: meeting sportswriters on the Baseball Tour; enjoying private concerts on the Music Tour; meeting a shaman on the Peru Tour and seeing a 400-pound tortoise lumber by on the Galapagos Islands Tour! Must-see experiences include a visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame, a sunset at Machu Picchu and talking with a conservationist in the Galapagos Islands.
Small-group Size
Good things come in small-group sizes!
We know travelers of the 21st century are sophisticated and prefer an alternative to a tour on a crowded motor coach. GTC tours are designed for those who prefer smaller groups, averaging 10–25 travelers.
Additionally, should your group exceed 10 guests, then we provide a SAGE, a GTC-trained guide. In addition to supporting your regular GTC guide, the SAGE is skilled when it comes to engaging both kids and adults. More than just a destination resource, your SAGE either is an accredited teacher, or has extensive experience working with kids. The addition of a GTC SAGE is just one more example of our commitment to you, our guests, and a way of fulfilling our promise to ensure your trip is stress-free and fun.
Not only does our insistence on small-group size allow us to visit and explore places the larger tour groups are unable to take their guests, our small groups bond with each other. Instead of traveling with a group of strangers, you can expect to feel comfortable with your fellow adventures almost immediately, which enriches your vacation experience.

We do all the research to make sure you see both well-known places and the hidden gems that most tourists don’t visit. We consult with educators and child-centered specialists to ensure our tours are entertaining and enriching opportunities.
As well as looking at the big picture, we are detail oriented. Carefully screened local guides are your destination experts who will enrich your travel experience. Accommodation and travel arrangements are all taken care of, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
On a GTC tour, every day is a careful balance of activities guaranteed to engage all our guests, as well as opportunities for reflection, or quiet time. In addition, Our Time Together—Time Apart feature allows everyone a chance to bond with family and to mix with his or her peers. We know that family time is vitally important, so for your Time Together we offer opportunities for you and your family to explore your chosen destination on your own. For your Time Apart, we provide a supervised evening for your kids to enjoy time with their new friends, and for you to enjoy an evening alone, or with other adults.
Your GTC guide and local guides are additional sources of support to resolve unexpected issues. For group sizes greater than ten people, a SAGE joins the GTC guide to provide even more support—now that’s stress-free travel!

There are NO hidden costs on a GTC vacation! You are responsible for your flight plans to your chosen destination, but when you travel with GTC, we have everything covered. What does that mean?
