DAY 1 — WELCOME TO PERU. Fly to Lima.  Transfer to your Lima guesthouse in the heart of Miraflores, near the Pacific Ocean. 

DAY 2 — CUZCO. Meet your GTC guide and fellow guests at an early-morning welcome breakfast. After a one-hour flight to Cuzco, rest before the walking tour of some famous Cuzco sights.  Later in the afternoon, a Peruvian storyteller reveals the history of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.  In the evening, dine while listening to traditional Incan music.  (B,L,D)

DAY 3 — SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS. Visit to the spectacular historic sites in the Sacred Valley.  Explore Incan ruins, such as the Moon Temple and Temple of the Sun.  In the afternoon, visit the ancient Incan ruins at Sacsayhuman.  The evening is free time for you to explore Cuzco and to eat at one of the many restaurants.  (B,L)

DAY 4 — CHINCHERO AND OLLAYTATAMBO. Travel to Chinchero in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.  Lunch at the market while you watch locals barter for goods.  Visit a Chincero weavers’ community, and see the process of traditional dyeing and weaving techniques.  Next, is a visit to Ollaytatambo.  This evening is Time Together—Time Apart.  Adults can listen to traditional Peruvian flute music, while kids enjoy a private art class at the local museum.  (B,L,D)

DAY 5 — MACHU PICCHU MAGIC. Join an optional 5-mile hike along the Royal Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.  This ceremonial path leads into Machu Picchu from above to reveal a majestic panorama of the citadel below.  When the sun goes down on Machu Picchu, we descend to Aguas Calientes and enjoy an evening at the fabulous hot springs.  (B,L,D)

DAY 6 — MORE MAGIC. Spend the entire day exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu!  In the morning, a private guide explains the latest theories about this mysterious citadel.  In the afternoon, free time allows you to explore the ruins on your own.  Kids can explore the nearby jungles and caves of Machu Picchu in search of mummy tombs.  (B,D)

Puru VacationDAY 7 — CULTURAL CONNECTIONS. A short coach ride will take you to the little-known Incan ruins of Tipon where a Quechuan shaman will be your guide.  After lunch visit a Quechuan community.  Learn about their daily lives; share traditional foods, and enjoy a cultural exchange.  There is an optional rafting trip.  Return to Cuzco in the late afternoon and enjoy a farewell dinner.  (B,L,D)

DAY 8 — FAREWELL! Take a noon flight back to Lima and explore Peru’s capital city.  Adios y gracias for sharing the Soul of the Andes with us.  (B)
