Generations Touring Companysm
Introduces Baseball: Behind the Scenes

Seattle, February 7, 2005 – Back by popular demand is Generations Touring Company’s (GTC) family oriented look at American baseball culture.  GTC has released the 2005 day-by-day itinerary for Baseball: Behind the Scenes, a once in a lifetime experience involving cities, stadiums, teams and players.

The 7-day escorted tour designed for families begins in New York City, continues to Cooperstown (NY) and Boston, Massachusetts.  This unique tour explores multiple perspectives of baseball culture ranging from the excitement of three live games, a visit with a sports journalist, behind-the-scenes tours and culminating in a visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum and this year’s induction ceremony.

Beginning in New York, families and intergenerational travelers will tour the city and then take part in a behind-the-scenes tour of Yankee Stadium – sitting in the same dugout as Ruth, Gehrig and DiMaggio.  While in New York, guests will enjoy dinner and conversation with a visiting sportswriter and gain perspective on sports journalism.  The first evening will conclude with a box seat to see the home town Yankees take on the visiting Anaheim Angels.

The tour continues to Cooperstown, New York, home to Baseball’s Hall of Fame.  The tour arrives at the onset of an Induction Weekend.  Festivities abound as Ryne Sandberg and Wade Boggs join an elite group of professionals.  See the Hall of Fame Museum and its many exhibits.  Witness the Induction Ceremony and keep an eye out for former major leaguers and teammates of the Inductees.

From Cooperstown the tour continues to Boston, Massachusetts, home to the World Champion Boston Red Sox.  The first evening includes a short trip to Pawtucket, RI to see the AAA minor league franchise Pawtucket Red Sox.  Families will enjoy the comfortable confines McCoy Stadium for dinner and a game.

The next morning you will have the opportunity to explore Fenway Park, home of the Green Monster in left field.  You will learn about the “Curse of the Bambino” and how it preoccupied Boston fans for nearly a century.  In the evening, you will have another great vantage point of the field from your box seat as you watch the Red Sox play the Kansas City Royals.

Two tour dates are available for families with children of all ages and are priced from $2,299.00 per person, double occupancy.  Children 12 and under receive a $100 discount.  The price includes all gratuities, accommodations, most meals, tours, event admissions and guide services as well as a GTC backpack and in depth field guide written specifically for this tour.  (The September tour will not include the Induction and will feature different teams.) Group discounts are available.
