Virtuoso Adds Intergenerational Tour Specialist
Seattle, August 1st, 2006 Virtuoso, an elite consortium of luxury travel agents announces the addition of Generations Touring Company (GTC) to its list of preferred suppliers. “GTC’s exclusive focus on family and intergenerational programs fills an important need for our members, said (Michael Tribe). “We look forward to helping them grow the intergenerational travel category”.
A primary market for GTC is the growing baby-boomer generation that is nearing retirement age. GTC aims to provide families a time to connect against a backdrop of fun and stimulating adventures. “We address needs created by increasing geographical separation of families, the busy pace of our lifestyles today (particularly kids' lifestyles) and the timeless needs of family elders to connect and influence the younger generations in their families” said Tom Easthope, GTC Founder and General Manager.
Itineraries are carefully arranged and operated with families and intergenerational clientele in mind. Group size is limited to 20 persons, average group size is 10-17 depending on the destination and the company maintains a 1:10 guide to traveler ratio. Thoughtful attention is given to property selection, itinerary pace, guide recruitment, providing a mix of the unique/unusual and the "must see". Until now the company has not actively solicited agency business, chosing to refine product offerings and validate vendor performance.
Generations Touring, founded in 2003 by Tom and Margaret Easthope, has focused its itinerary development primarily in the Americas. In 2007, the company looks to add an intergenerational program in England and Scotland as well as expand voluntourism programs currently focusing on New Orleans and Costa Rica. The company will also be operating family and youth oriented programs for a growing list of university alumni assocations including the Universities of Michigan and North Carolina.
We look forward to working with Virtuoso agents to create family and intergenerational experiences that reflect the changing preferences among sophisticated travelers for smaller group sizes, more cultural interaction and a mix of the “must see” as well as the unique and unusual.
