Generations Touring Companysm
Unique
Family Adventure Brings Adults and
Children Up Close and Personal in
Peru
Seattle,
April 26, 2005 - This summer families
will have a unique opportunity to learn
firsthand about Peruvian culture and
experience one of the wonders of the
modern world. Generations Touring Company®
(GTC) programs provide an interesting,
adventurous and safe opportunity for
families to spend time together learning
about this amazing people and their
history. GTC's small group size ensure
all travelers' needs are accommodated,
increased access to more culturally
authentic environments and flexibility
to adapt to the needs and interests
of multiple generations traveling together.
Families will be met in Lima by GTC's guides who include experts in community based tourism. The next morning the group sets out for Cusco and their adventure in Peruvian culture. In Cusco the group will take time to acclimate to the higher elevation and enjoy an easy walking tour with a local anthropologist.
GTC travelers will have a choice to explore Peru's Sacred Valley by horseback, car or foot. The Sacred Valley is home to important ruins sites as the Moon Temple, Temple of the Sun and the impressive Incan ruins at Sacsayhuman. Next is the weaver's community of Chincero and its authentic market relatively free of tourists. Here, GTC families will have a chance to interact with locals and enjoy "hands on" training in the dying of wool and spend time on a weaver's loom.
A trek to Machu Picchu is a once in a lifetime experience. The Royal Inca Trail was believed to be the ceremonial path that ruling Incans used for purification prior before entering the sacred site of Machu Picchu. The group will arrive to the gates of the citadel in time to watch the sun set over this dramatic scene. The entire next day is spent exploring the ruins with the help of GTC and local guides. Everyone can learn about the latest theories about the site and kids will have an opportunity to explore in the nearby jungle and caves.
The tour visits the small Andean town of Tipon where the group will be accompanied by a local shaman to see some ancient ruins complete with standing aqueducts. The day concludes with a visit to a tiny Quechua community where GTC kids can play soccer with the local children and everyone can learn about life in a village without electricity or running water.
GTC's Soul of the Andes departs August 6th, 2005. Prices start at $2,499 per person, double occupancy (group and children's discounts are available) for this eight day itinerary. Prices are all-inclusive, which means everything from activities, accommodations; gratuities and meals (order off the menu) are included in the price of the tour. GTC can also schedule a new departure for families or groups of six or more. This departure is also considered a Founder's Tour and will be hosted by GTC Founder Tom Easthope.
